Description
Ellenberg and Rifkin's "Diabetes Mellitus" is one of the most respected books on the subject, a favorite of diabetes specialists, endocrinologists, and biochemistry researchers. However, it is not very suitable for use by house staff or primary care physicians, because it is too big and has too much hard basic science. It is also priced beyond the realm of special sales opportunities. We want to publish a companion manual to capture the special sales, house staff, and primary care markets. Diabetes cases are rapidly increasing and primary care physicians handle and coordinate much of the care. It is a practical book focusing on patient care aspects will be very useful. The book will be derived from the chapters in Ellenberg and Rifkin's "Diabetes Mellitus". Chapters focusing on direct patient care issues will be re-edited by contributors and a medical writer to be suitable for use in the hectic primary care setting. Chapters in Ellenberg and Rifkin's that focus on hard basic science issues (approximately 40 per cent of the book) will not be carried over to the Companion Manual. The chapters in the Manual will be re-edited to provide a consistent template - Epidemiology, Presentation, Diagnosis, Differential, Laboratory and Radiological Tests, Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Non Pharmacological Therapy, Follow Up, and Suggested Readings. - from Amzon
